This notice explains how VoltConsulting collects, uses and protects personal data. We are committed to handling all personal information in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
VoltConsulting is a specialist life sciences consulting recruitment firm operating across the UK, US and Europe. We act as a data controller in respect of the personal data we process.
For any questions about this notice or how we handle your data, please contact us at david@voltconsulting.solutions.
What data we collect and why
We collect and process professional contact data for the purposes of executive search, consulting recruitment and business development. The types of data we hold include:
- Full name and job title
- Professional email address and phone number
- Employer / company name
- LinkedIn profile URL
- Professional background and career history (where relevant to a search)
- Notes from professional interactions
We do not collect or process sensitive personal data (such as health information, political views or ethnicity) unless you explicitly provide it in a professional context and consent to its use.
Where we get data from
We source professional contact data from:
- Publicly available sources — including LinkedIn and company websites
- Data providers — including compliant B2B data platforms that source professional contact information lawfully
- Referrals and introductions — from existing contacts and clients
- Direct interactions — when you contact us, respond to outreach or submit your details
Our lawful basis for processing
For the majority of our processing activity, our lawful basis is legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) of the UK GDPR. Specifically:
- We have a legitimate interest in maintaining a professional network of consultants, executives and hiring contacts relevant to the life sciences consulting sector
- We contact professionals about career opportunities, executive searches and business development activities that are directly relevant to their professional role
- Our processing is proportionate — we hold the minimum data necessary for these purposes and do not use it for unrelated activities
Where you have given us explicit consent to contact you (for example by joining our VoltNETWORK community), we process your data on the basis of that consent.
How we use your data
- To contact you about executive search mandates or consulting opportunities relevant to your background
- To introduce you to clients seeking candidates with your profile
- To maintain our professional network and stay in touch over time
- To send relevant market updates or industry news (where you have opted in)
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.
Who we share data with
We share personal data only where necessary:
- Clients — where you are a candidate being considered for a specific role, we will share relevant professional details with the hiring client. We will always inform you before doing so.
- Technology providers — we use Airtable (a US-based data platform with GDPR-compliant data processing agreements in place) to store contact records securely
- Outreach platforms — we may use compliant email outreach tools to contact you professionally. These platforms are bound by their own GDPR-compliant terms
How long we keep your data
We retain professional contact data for as long as it remains relevant to our business activities, typically up to three years from our last meaningful interaction. If you ask us to remove your data, we will do so promptly — see Your Rights below.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the following rights in respect of your personal data:
- Right of access — you can ask us what data we hold about you
- Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your data
- Right to object — you can object to us processing your data on the basis of legitimate interest
- Right to restrict processing — you can ask us to pause processing while a concern is resolved
- Right to data portability — you can ask for a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us. We will respond within 30 days.

If you would prefer not to hear from us, simply reply to any of our communications and we will remove you from our contact records immediately. You can also email us directly at any time.
